I've heard this many times myself. I'm just not a smiley person, it doesn't mean I'm unhappy, I just don't feel like smiling. But I've learned, when management is around I try to stick a big fat smile on my face. I wonder if female doctors are ever told they need to smile more.

Well, you know what they say about good drugs. Honestly, I can't see where the problem is as long as you do your job. Somebody has too much time on their hands and they should pay more attention to their own job performance. Sorry, but I can't take this seriously and would be upset if I were told the same thing. We can't be all things to all people all the time.

I worked on a unit where someone complained that I didn't say hello to everyone when I arrived. This unit had a nurse who was in the manager's office everyday to complain about who had hurt their feelings that day. She still works there, I do not.

Well, you could "whistle while you work" a la Snow White. And... get yourself a big "I luv nursing pin".

That should do it.

by George, I think that's it . . . you need to wear at least ten pieces of "flair" . . . one happy face, one "I luv nursing" , one "Hug a nurse", one "I luv being your nurse", one "resuscitate with chocolate", etc:D

what a crock! As others have said if you were too happy they'd remark upon that too. That's the stuff I get " Oh I wish I had some of whatever you are on" If that type of remark is overheard by the wrong person they may assume I'm on illegal drugs and that would NOT be a good thing for me.I'm sick of it. .I just tell them it's the anti depressants and the hormones-I'm all about better living through chemistry -and offer my GP's office number if they would like a consult. ...Sounds like folks have too much time on their hands...I think a smiley face pin would be a hoot-and maybe put lip;iner on like "The Joker" so you are always smiling...Maybe they are afraid you are going to "go postal"? Thank them for their concern-ask if they are sending you to employee health and then tell them to leave you alone.

:trout:

Please notice above example.

Step 1. Obtain nasty dead fish.

Step 2. Beat the living H*** out of stupid nurse manager for being dumb enough to bring up such a stupid statement.

Step 3. Using same nasty dead fish [you mustn't waste in this economy your know], beat the h*** out of stupid co-workers, who have time to make aforementioned complaint.

Step 4. Please sit down with a hot cup of tea to enjoy for a job thoroughly well done.

On a more serious note. Time to beware, be cautious, and go with your gut.

Hey you can't look happy when you are not, you are not a plastic face to change one smile with another one?

May be you can , I can't is foreign cultural background...if I am happy I am, and generally I come happy at work, but after first 2 hours when creppy thinks start to come on, how I could stay happy, is like a dirty game, never ending....

People start to talk with them selve, and walk without goal, the same information came on 3 different paths with 3 TOTALLY different meanings, and 3 different people carry out the same information in 3 different ways and ask whay is not the same? JEEZ! And more other 3 different ones search the information that was already there but in 3 different times, on 3 diffferent meanings for 3 diffferent senders with 3 diffferent receivers , on 3 different places, on 3 diffferent hours, and another 3 different persons verified another each and every 3 diffferent pieces and clarify another 3 different requests.........IS CRAZYYYYYYY!

How you could stay happy! Just thinking, and praying..."please God keep my sanity and don't make me to do or say somenthing to regret after, and don't let me down or to loose my control, and keep me straight as I am and guide me and protect me, because what I seen some time is too much to even think that could be happiness. And don't let me God to bring my happiness from other sadness ....and don't feed my ego from other weakness, and don't let me to destroy when I could build, and don't let me to hate when I could love, and keep me how I was and am, and show me the way......"

You need to find you hapiness hon, and speak out for it....you can not disimulate a false hapiness when is not. Hugs!
