Hello fellow nurses!
I am brand new to this site, so please forgive me for anything that doesn't seem "right."
I took my nclex-RN on April 9, 2015.
For about 6 solid months, I would go to the library 5 days a week, for about 4-6 hours each day. I took Kaplans review course. All of their content was online, which is what I prefer. I also went and got myself kaplans 300 medications to know. Every time I went to study, I logged into my Kaplan account, and did my questions. I read all rationales, even the ones for the questions I got correct. I learned medications by class. All in all, I did about 5000+ questions.
i know everyone has a different way of studying. But this is the way I took it. Kaplan guarantees that if you do all of their online questions, you will pass.
I took my exam 4/09/2015, and my computer shut off after 75 questions. I had 35 alternative format questions (select all that apply, drag and drop, priority, labs/charts/diagrams)
Quick tips:
-know your labs!
-know what you can delegate and to whom you can delegate.
-physical vs psychosocial (ABC is more important than someone in pain)
-Maslow hierarchy of needs is important to know
-know medications: learn by class so it'll be easier to remember--indications, side effects, adverse effects
-know procedures: basic pre/post nursing care
-know when to pick an assessment vs implementation answer
-know basic disease processes:overview, side effects, treatments
-NEVER READ INTO THE QUESTION: remember this is nclex world, not the real world. On nclex, you have everything and everyone you need for each question. Don't add unneccssary information.
P.S.- everyone gets medications or diseases they've never heard of. Just look at the question for key words and key points, because they're in the question somewhere. Look at your answer options. You don't pick a beta blocker for a question that's asking you about a skin condition. Let's have some common sense people!
Finally, prayer on top of prayer on top of prayer. God is the ultimate force. I prayed endlessly before, during, and after my exam. God is with you even during the most difficult times.
Good of luck to all. I was always the nursing school student who was on the border of every semester. Nclex tests what you would do in the situation they give you. You know this information. Take your time, take your breaks, there's no rush.
God if bless all of us who became/are becoming nurses. We're the strongest people out there.
Good of luck to everyone and God bless.

Thank you for advice! Final next week. I'm on the fence too! Glad to know others survived.
