How to pass the NCLEX-PN...any tips?

Published

I'll be graduating from my LPN program in June and I want to take my NCLEX before I start college so somewhere around early to mid august. I have HORRIBLE study habits where I wait until the night before and the morning of the test to study and I know that's not gonna work with the NCLEX. What worked for you guys or is working for you now?

Start answering comprehensive questions 50-100 questions per day. If you find yourself not doing well, study per subject in study mode (Saunder's cd). Read your book or google for information that you don't understand. Learn the strategies of test taking like Kaplan review book. In this preparation you need discipline, focus, time, and patience.

you should study also test taking strategy

How many hours do you think is enough to study a day?

For me it wasn't about hours a day but about getting in the habit of answering different question formats and reviewing s/s, and nsg interventions for just about everything. I did about 100-250 questions throughout the day. it took me an average of 3-4 hours a day. Some days less. It just depended on some questions being easier to get through than others. Good luck to ya!!

I agree, don't focus on how many hours, more so, how many different questions you can do. I studied 4 days prior to my Nclex-Pn. I did 205 questions off of NCLEX 3000 on each subgroup, so 1,025 question. I also did 60 questions from 4 pratice exams out of Cram Exam 3rd edition totaling 240 questions. I also made sure I knew my medication groups, my isolation precautions, my labs values and my ABC's and Manslow's.

I can tell you that I did not see 1 question that was exact to what I did on the studying prior, but seeing question worded in different ways and focusing on the "call of the question" helped me.

I passed with 85 questions and in 1 hours, my first try.

Good luck and happy studying.

P.S. For content, meds, labs, ect I used the Saunders book, green cover, by Linda S.
