How to Pass AGNP/FNP exam

Hi future AGNPs/FNPs

I just passed my ANCC AGNP certification exam. It was easier than I thought and felt there are so many direct knowledge questions, but several questions related to culture, HIPAA, goals of care, advance directives, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.  Few questions I never even heard about.

How to prepare: I bought the Fitzgerald book and studied. The book is in-depth and has a lot of information. a lot of practice questions. I didn't attend any review course, so I can't speak for that, however, my friends who attended say it's very helpful.

Use apps and question Banks; There are several apps. I used the  FNPmastery one. Trial their free version and if you like it purchase it. Read the explanations and take down notes. The app has a lot of great questions and rationales.

Use Google and Youtube; Both have a lot of free sample questions.

Takedown notes; You are not able to remember everything, Takedown notes on important things, use pneumonics,  read the notes daily and before the exam.

I would not recommend registering for both (ANCC/AANP) as you can lose money. You can if you have a job lined up and cannot take a chance.

If you are strong in clinical areas, Take AANP. If you love clinical and do not mind policy/professional issues/research) questions, take ANCC. 

Finally, practice practice practice, do a lot of questions. You can do it with a study buddy.  Read the questions carefully,  read all options, exclude the 100% wrong answer first.

Immunization, Tuberculosis, CAP, COPD, CHF, HTN, Asthma, IBS, Arthritis, Gout, Osteoporosis (Z score), Postmenopausal issues, incontinence, Beers criteria, SLE/RA, Low back pain(cauda equina), Knee injury, Testicular torsion, BPH, STDs, Birth control, Skin cancer( A.Keratosis included), cellulitis, Puberty stages,  DM retinopathy, Hypertensive eye changes, glaucoma,  various eye tests,  Cranial nerves, Lung exam, Murmurs,Dementia, Delirium, Drugs, Live vaccines.
