I just thought I would start this thread to find out who old people are when they start nursing school. I already have a family and have worked in the insurance field for almost 10 years. A lot of people tell me that I need to reconsider my choice of going to nursing school because of my age.

i was 27 when i started taking the pre-reqs, and am graduating in a few weeks at 31. we have students ranging from 20 to 63, with most being in their late 30s.
Thanks for replying. That's really good to hear! I have been going back and forth with my decision. I have always wanted to be a nurse, but I put it off to get married and start a family. People have discouraged me from trying to fulfill my dream not, but I am going for it.
I'm 29 by the way....

Go For It!!! I didn't go back to nursing school until I was 47, and I had a number of people in my class who were around my age. Do what your heart says and don't listen to what others have to say.... follow your dream and your passion! Good Luck!
I'm gonna go for it! I have always wanted to be a nurse. However, the feeling became really strong in 2006 - When I had twins born at 32 weeks. The NICU nurses were so helpful and great! I wanted to do what they did. So, I want to be a neonatal nurse or a neonatal nurse practitioner.
