hi all, this is my first post on the forums. i will be graduating my rn program in may of 2010. i've heard that the nclex test is going to be new for 2010 so i was wondering if i should be avoiding books that are from say 2007-2009. i've done some searching and found that everyone is raving about the saunders book isbn:978-141603708. that book was published in 2007. should i wait until the turn of 2010 to get any review books???? thanks a lot for any input

I would not avoid them, but you might want to get some more current ones too. Personally I put my bets on the HURST Review. I did use Saunders to help build confidence, but I give credit to HURST. Spend your money on the review course and check the Saunders books out at the library for free.

I used only the Saunders book to study for NCLEX-PN and passed with only the minimum amount of questions and on my 1st attempt at taking NCLEX.

I didn't use the most current Saunders NCLEX reveiw book as I prefer buying less expensive used books online. Since I had an older version; when the new version came out I went to the bookstore to compare the books.

The reading content hadn't really changed. The only significant change was the new version had more of the alternative style practice questions than my older version. For me that was not a big deal I just spent a little time at the book store reviewing those Questions.

I don't know if that is all that is changing for 2010 though.

I would buy a 2010 Review book, MHO. I would also strongly advise you to get a Kaplan NCLEX RN review book!

I would probably purchase a newer version, but if you can obtain older ones either from the library or on loan, do so. I liked seeing different versions of questions and that helped me to pass NCLEX-PN the first time with minimal questions.

I believe the older ones if less than 5 years would be fine. Information in books does not change that much in that kind of time frame. If one reviews the dates on their recent text books, they most likely be around 3 to 5 years.

The material barely changes. You either know your diseases and nursing processes or you dont.
