NY Nurse

Hi All,
I am a nursing student right now but I work full time at a hospital... I work in an administrative position. I currently get 24 vacation days a year. Yes, a lot... and I love it.
My question to all of you is... as a nurse... how many vacation days do you get? I love that I get so many vacation days and I will hate it if when I become a nurse I get less vacation days.
Thanks!
(Edit: Oh, I also want to ask... how long have you been working at your job to get that much vacation time? Did you get it automatically when you started your job?)

Depends on how much I work. I accrue PTO hours according to how many hours worked in a pay period.....pretty steady for full timers, can vary for parttimers or if overtime is worked.

Same here.
So far from all your posts I am feeling much better. I was worried that I was going to get less vacation time. I have worked in the hospital setting (in administration) for about eight years now and just two years ago was I brought up to 24 days instead of 2 weeks. I was afraid of losing all those day... so, I am really happy you're all saying you have lots of vacation time.
Keep the posts coming... still really interested in how many days you all get. Thanks!

Vacation? What is a vacation? I know I can take one, but......something always comes up.
I get about 3 weeks.

vacation time is relative. if you work agency or travel nurse you have much flexibility in off time. I get about 24 days per year, plus boss will let you have some time off without pay if needed
