Just curious. What state do you live in, and how many times are you allowed to take the NCLEX? I live in MD, and its unlimited. But no more than 8 times a year and no sooner than 45 days. And I thought everywhere was the same! But I saw someone in FL post that after the 3rd fail its mandatory remediation?

NJ is three tries and you must remediate before permitted to attempt again. Other states have a time limit that starts at graduation from nursing school such as three years post graduation you must take and pass the NCLEX
Makes me wonder why MD is so lax.

I don't believe my state has a limit, and frankly I think that's wrong. Not everything should be unlimited like trips to a buffet.
I agree!!!

I am in Ohio, tutoring two BSN students for NCLEX—sixth and tenth attempt. "Go directly to jail (or back to nursing school); do not pass go, do not collect $200"
Dang.
Are u saying that one of the students this is their 10th attempt?? Its not easy for some. I know. I hope they both pass soon.
Yes, lucky attempts 6 and 10. I just started working with these students and although it is a slow go, the main problem seems to be too much Red Bull and reading too much into the questions. I seem to be the tutor of last resort...but I really like working with the desperate, and of about the seventy or so students I have worked with, I have only hit the wall with one, and she now works for the Ohio Turnpike. I am sure these gals will pass next time around...we've got some good study strategy going on and there needs to be some bolstering in the self-confidence department! Thanks for the good thoughts.
@ladyscrubs MSN,
