I have toyed around with the idea of traveling for 3 years or so. I have many reasons, none serious, as to why I haven't taken the leap into travel nursing. The most troubling reason now is the fact that I have a really laid back job. My coworkers work as a team and the bosses are pretty ok. My job is very flexible, laid back, and completely autonomous. However, I rarely use my clinical skills as my job is more in the education\community health realm. I miss using my clinical skills, working 3 days a week, and the feeling of being at the bedside. Then again, I don't want to be a fool. I also plan to do a lot of mission trips and know that I can work that into my schedule easier than working a 9-5 M-F job.
I would like to know how many of you left a great job to travel and why you chose to do so? What made you take the plunge? Any regrets? Do you wonder about what you will do when you decide to stop traveling?
My passion in life is travel, learning new cultures, and meeting new people. I hate to look back on my career and feel that I should have tried travel nursing.
Thanks in advance and God bless.

Many agencies offer short contracts (4 to 6 weeks). If you want to travel, go for it. The nice aspect about travel nursing is that you have the opportunity to be exposed to different places and different settings.
Thanks Joanna73.
