I am going to start my part-time BSN in 2008 at LIU - does anyone know if this requires nightly classes, as well as weekends? As a full-time program director, is the part-time BSN bound to take up every ounce of my precious free time? Just wondering....

They didn't give you this information when you applied for the program and were accepted? Each program is different, so only they can tell you the specifics.

I cannot give specific advice about your program. However, I am attending an ADN program "part-time".
DO NOT be fooled by the term part-time. It just means that you either took all of your non-nursing classes first (this is the case for me) or that the program has spread things out so you do not have to take a million courses while taking your nursing clinical courses. It does not mean you will have time on your hands to enjoy yourself; if that is what you mean by "precious free time". In fact, change your attitude about how precious your free time is and be happy that nursing school is taking it all up. This way it is less painful! GL.

Are you already an RN? I had my diploma when I went back for my BSN part time and I went 1 night/week from 4:30-10PM Long night, but got it all over in 1 day. Took me 2 years. I also had to take speech and statistics at my local Community College because I hadn't had them in the diploma program. Workload wasn't too bad. Worked full time. Had a husband, kids, dog, cat, house....

If you post in your state forum, you'll be more likely to get answers specific to this particular program.
Good luck to you!
