I was wondering what percentage of nurses ended up getting hired from their practicum site? I think finishing the schooling will be the easy part. when I have been looking for jobs in my area and they all want 5 yrs experience. It almost seems impossible to get hired after graduation

I got hired at my clinical site. I had three informal offers there in different departments before I graduated. I accepted an offer in the specialty I wanted (L&D) pending licensure and started orientation two days after I passed NCLEX. I never even had an interview.

I did not apply at my practicum site (for a variety of reasons) however having clinical experience on that unit was beneficial in getting the job I have now (first nursing job). I didn't start applying for jobs until a couple weeks before graduation and had multiple offers with in 1 month of graduation.
So it sounds like you live in a competitive market. If in a super-competitive market you may want to look into less competitive specialties or look at what it would take to move to a different market for a couple of years to get some experience.
