I am trying to see what others are experiencing at their facilities with how many critical care educators they have per unit/floor/staff number. My facility has 2 ICUs totaling 24 beds and 3 PCU floors at roughly 70 beds. We have only 1 educator for all 5 floors. What kind of ratios do y'all have? Thank you

We have a decent sized education department, but most of the staff in the department is focused on new hire orientation. Specific unit education is the responsibility of 3 nurse educators in the hospital. The first covers the ICU, CVU, and ED. The second covers the PCU, GM, JC, and Rehab. The last covers Peds, OB, and NICU. The three of them tend to work very closely together though and assist each other with educational fairs so that they can reach all of the staff as needed.

We have a 16 bed MICU, 16 bed SICU, 16 bed Burn ICU. We only have 1 educator but it works out nicely with the communication and approaches to learning that he establishes!
