It depends on the size of the facility you are applying to. I have found that large health centers with internet based employment screening takes anywhere from a week to 3 months to let you know. I would say at this point with the number of applicants each job listing draws in typically its a 1-2 week wait to know. You can always call about the status of your application after a week to check in with them. If you are still under consideration this can communicate the sincerity you have about wanting to be employed by them not simply employed.

Good luck to you on your job hunt!:)

it is a larger hospital and like you said internet based applications. What if the website says not to call because of volume of applicants? It just says, that a human resource rep will overlook each application and if they like it they will contact you. Would you still call? Waiting and wondering is killing me.

Does it have a place where you can check your application status?

All you did was fill out an online application? You haven't had an interview? It may be weeks before you are even called for an interview, so just get on with your life.

They may have had many applicants, and haven't even perused yours yet.

Don't ever hold your breath for an online application, you will just turn blue.

Take care, keep applying for other positions elsewhere, and best wishes!

I didn't get called back until after a month and i actually had connections. I actually ran into the leader who was in charge of hiring and she thought i had already been called and I STILL didn't get called until a week after that. but i did get the job.

I think that is not that unusual around here. Good luck

If you really want it, I'd follow up even thought it says not to call. Like someone mentioned, it shows that you're really interested and what are you going to lose by calling anyways? I may be wrong, but i doubt they would throw your app away for calling to check up even if it says otherwise. Persistence without being overbearing helps your name stand out. Good luck and i hope you get a call :)

Disagree. I have seen managers take the stance that anyone who violates a basic request in the application process (no phone calls, for example) is automatically out of the running. It is one very efficient way to reduce what may be hundreds of applications.

Makes sense to me - why hire someone who can't read and follow basic instruction?

I once got called back for an interview a year after I had submitted an application. I declined because by this point I already had a hospital job :)

That is the exception though...usually it took anywhere from hours to a few weeks before I heard anything about my applications. Apply, then keep applying for other things. If you're worried that you will end up juggling several interviews or offers if you do that, you can stop worrying: with the job market as it is, you'll will probably land fewer interviews than applications filed. Don't stop the job hunt until you get a letter from a facility's HR department offering you a job.

Oh yeah, if the website says not to call, I'd advise against calling. However, that does not rule out your sending them one politely worded "thank you/following-up" note or e-mail :)

Best of luck!

I would call after a week, I mean its not like you are calling each day. Another alternative is to get in touch with the nurse recruiter for the hsp. Send them an e-mail regarding your interest in the job, that you haven't heard anything in a week and wanted to just check in and reiterate your interest in the mission of the hsp, the job, how you can help blend the mission statement of the institution into your care, yadda yadda yadda.

GOOD LUCK!!! I know un-nerving it is to wait for a response, seems like an eternity!

I am still waiting on PCT jobs I applied to 18 months ago! Seriously, the one interview I did get for a PCT - it was 8 weeks after I applied. I am now applying to RN jobs and I figure if I ever hear it will be many weeks. Good Luck!

after pplying and submitting resume it may take up to 3 months

But once u interview you can call and "follow up" 2 weeks later

GOOD LUCK!!
