How long does EC take on avg?

First off, I'm new here, and I think this site is great! I have just finished up my 1st year in a traditional ASN program, but am thinking of finishing up w/ EC b/c it would be way easier w/ my work schedule. So, I guess I want to know how long does it take to finish up? I'm actually kinda hoping it could be a little quicker than the program I'm in. I will only need my nursing components b/c I have all my gen ed done and I'm a A-/B+ student. (I actually already have a BS in Health Science). I know when I called EC, they told me avg of 2 years, but if I've already finished 1 year, won't I get credit for that?

Also, I'm most worried about having to start an IV b/c I haven't learned that yet in my program. Do you have to perform that in the CPNE? Any suggestions as to where I could learn that if I decide to go w/ EC?

Hi. I graduated EC in May 2005. The nursing tests take as long as you want them to take... would be really hard to give you an average time, because it is pretty much whatever you want it to be. If you study quick and stay on track it can go pretty fast... but if you are a procrasinator you are doomed with this program. After you have completed all nursing components and as long as you are within nine (?) credits of having all other courses complete, than you can sign up for CPNE. This was a six month wait time for me, but have heard of others ranging from 4 to 9 months. You will not have to start an IV during the CPNE, but you will have to calculate drip rates and be able to demonstrate admin. of an IV medication. There are lots of posts on here about EC. Besure to search them out as there are a lot of different opinions on the program. Worked great for me though. Most importantly tho, make sure you check with your state board before you do anything to make sure that they accept this program and you can sit for the boards. Good luck.
