How do you know if you can do it?

I have been a nurse for 2.5 years in a CCU. I am working on my BSN right now at university of pheonix online. After my BSN I would like to be a NP but am worried that I might not be able to do it. How did you guys know that you were smart enough to become a NP. I feel like there is a large amount of responsibilty on a NP's shoulders and with that comes a huge amount of knowledge that you need to learn. Did you guys know that you could do it or were you unsure? Is there a test or something that I could take that would let me know I wont fail horribly? Thanks guys!
