I made a promise to myself that once I passed the nclex I will come back to this site to tell my story and hopefully inspire people the way others on this site has inspired me.
Failing the NCLEX in the minimum amount of questions broke my heart and humbled me terribly. I was using Kaplan. I would do 75 questions every other day and remediating every other day and using their question trainers every week. My average score on the qbanks and question trainers were high 50's. I didn't feel that bad because my professors told me that we should aim for 60's. So I thought well im not that way off. Then on top of that My close friends took their exam already and passed within 75. So then I thought if they were ready then so was I. But I was wrong, I failed in 75.
When getting to the test I was hammered with questions I had never seen. Topics I had no idea about. My confidence depleted drastically and it was all down hill from their. I felt stupid. I read some where that some times the lower level questions can be just as hard as the upper level question simply because if you do not know the content then there is no way try to work your way around to the answer. Its either you know it or you don't. needless to say I just kept getting things I didn't know. then I realized I needed content NOT just questions
Then I came across Hurst. And my entire way of studying changed it became less stressful and focused. Hurst puts the material in a way that it isn't just like reading straight out of a textbook. it gives you EXACTLY what you need to know and nothing more or less. I SWEAR by it. In addition to Hurst, I also purchased the ncsbn (3 wks ) just so I can keep in the habit of questions and this review is good with giving you lower level questions and upper levels question so you get both not just one sides of the test. Kaplan focuses on upper levels questions.
Questions became easier with having knowledge and confidence in my core content and after I got through all of the material that Hurst gave. I saved Hurst question reviews for last week leading to my test.
The day of my test I was increasingly confident in my answer choices. I can remember 5-6 questions that I knew the answer to because I have seen a questions exactly like it during the hurts question review. I was receiving SATAS every other question or every three questions. But it didn't matter I knew my content. When the screen cut off at 75 I wasn't nervous I was Happy cause I knew this time it wasn't telling me go home and study, it was telling me go home because you've done it!
Don't give up. Rather you failed in the minimum or maximum amount of questions you can turn it around. Cry and beat your self up, because we all do it, because we all work so hard. But then wake up the next day and get back to it! Hurst helped me. Just do it!

My question trainers for Hurst were progressive with 71 being my lowest and 84 being my highest how ever I didn't get through all 6 I only got through 4 of them but remediation is key! as I said in my post I found Hurst questions very similar to nclex. because I been doing question all along with nsbn I felt comfortable with my question taking ability so the last few days I wanted to focus on the content I was the weakest in which was meds and growth a development. as far as meds goes I only used 5th day material but only focused on medications for each system and psych meds. which were all grouped. all the other meds I didn't even bother cause there is just know way to remember them all.
Thank you for the reply! I am planning to finish all the 6 qtrainers and uworld too! I have gotten discouraged took first exam in Hurst got 55% I have gotten discouraged I am finishing uworld questions then I'll finish doing Hurst reviews few days before my exam week.
