How am I going to manage?

Published

I recently got accepted into nursing school and start August of this year. It is an ADN program that is Mon-Fri. Not only am I starting nursing school, but my 1st child is due June 23rd. I am needing to work throughout school to may my truck payment, insurance, credit debt, loan, and phone bill.

This is where the frustration comes in. I am currently employed with a big name company as a medical assistant and I am eligible for transfer, BUT the recruiter is denying my request and says I can not be an employee here and will need to be terminated while on maternity leave before she will send any managers my resume. So I have branched out to other hospitals trying to get in, but it is so difficult. I am really needing advice on what to do because my stress levels are through the roof. I have worked so hard to get into nursing school and can not let it pass by. I cant afford to not work. I am needing advice and on what all I should do. I thought about taking out a personal loan to live on, but the interest would be sky high and I do not want to add another bill right now. I will take any advice.

I don't know employer-employee law but would FMLA cover your maternity leave or your PTO? Would you be able to talk to the Human Resources/People Services Department? That department know the current laws and how to apply them. Best wishes and good luck.
