How hard is it to find a job as a GN?

Published

I have been hearing from some GNs from my school that jobs aren't as plentiful as we have been lead to believe. I will be graduating in a year from UTHSC-H and am wondering how true this is.

Thanks!

I have been a RN for a year. The job market is intence right after graduation. So, begin looking before graduation. But a word of advise dont look in just one specialty. Many people got jobs as aids then was able to transition to a nursing position. Good luck!

It depends on what part of Texas you are in. I think there are more openings in the South part of Texas, such as Houston.

I am from another state, just graduated in May 2005 and I just got an offer from a hospital in Dallas to work as an intern in September. (not a lot of hospitals have internship in September but I guess this is one of the few that does)

This hospital is expanding and it gives generous bonus and the commitment is only 18 months.

What hospital in Dallas? Just curious, I'm from DFW.
