How to go from nursing home to hospital?

I was a CNA in CO from 2006-2009, I got pregnant and moved to NM But my license expired Jan 2010. I am in the process of becoming re-certified in NM. But allof my experience was in nursing home and Assisted Living. I want to work in a hospital now as I start nursing school next year. How can I get my foot in the door? Help! I live in Albuquerque,if that helps.

Apply, apply, apply! I must have applied to the place I currently work at least 5 times before I finally got a phone call. If you know anyone who works in a hospital it does not hurt to ask them how they got in or if you can use them as a reference. Where I live the application process if entirely online.
