I am currently attending an accelerated BSN. Lots of negatives..no externship/cant pick a preceptorship..
I am willing to go anywhere in the country when i graduate in May to work in a PICU. Any advice of when to start applying? Anything to increase my chances of landing a position?
So far have had a peds rotation and volunteer at a children's hospital in the Philadelphia area (that im sure will not be hiring new grads when i graduate)
Thanks in advance for any help

I'm surprised you didn't see it when you opened the forum home page. There are four pages of answers to your question right there. Best wishes, let us know how it goes.
I did! read through again.. great info!
was hoping maybe for some advice for the now new nursing job market
About the only thing that could be added might be to be prepared to relocate. Some PICUs are still hiring new grads but they tend to be far-flung. Contact the hospitals near where you live that have PICUs and ask for the patient care manager's name and contact information. Then call the patient care manager, explain that you're really interested in working in PICU when you graduate and ask what sorts of thing they look for in applicants. Then be that person.
