Hello! Any advice on how to get a clinic job? I have been a nurse for 5 years, all in acute care. I am looking for a clinic job, but it seems impossible. Any ideas?

I am currently in NP school, and am looking for a taste of primary care!

Thank you!

Define clinic -

Most doctor's offices don't have a nurse. My internal med doc employs one nurse and two NPs - the nurse pretty much does follow up, education, etc.  All procedures are done by a MA or CNA. My allergist has one nurse and a bunch of CNAs. My former GP had zero nurses, all MAs.

Urgent care - I've noticed that Care Now and Concentra have LVNs on the floor. I recall seeing a position posed for a nurse manager, though.

Does your community hospital have clinics? My sister is an LVN and works at a clinic under a nurse team lead.

Things you can try - if you're able, investigate summer camp. Your experience will be valuable and it's more primary/urgent care. Also look into school nursing.  Best of luck.

I work at a clinic. It was a referral from my staffing agency after I completed numerous contracts with them. It's surely repetitive but I don't encounter as many unstable patients compared to an inpatient setting and have more downtime and flexibility for lunch and breaks etc.
