How Do You Deal With The Anxiety After an Interview?

Published

I think I had a great interview. I wasn't expecting two people but I handled myself well. During the interview they told me that I should hear from them early next week. However, by the end of the interview the nurse manager said "you might be hearing from our nurse recruiter later on today." I took that to be a good sign.

So as soon as I got home I sent each of my interviewers an email to thank them, then I sent an email to the nurse recruiter to thank her. Then I waited by the phone.......but got no calls. :uhoh3:

Did I mention how much I want this job? I loved all the people I've met there so far, and I really want to work there!!!

Is it a bad sign that none of them answered my thank you emails? And also, if they decided to go with someone else, would they let me know or would they just ignore my calls? This is a big hospital with its own nurse recruiting team.

Thank you!

Give it some time. It's not a bad sign that you didn't receive instant replies to your emails, or that you weren't called by the nurse recruiter later that day. It's still a good thing that you sent your "thank you" emails. Hopefully you also sent thank you cards/letters.

Good luck!

I didn't send a thank you letter because I was told they'd make a decision by early next week and I figured there isn't enough time.

So I decided to send emails instead. Should I still go send thank you cards on monday?

We all have our own individual paths that lie ahead of us that will take us to our purpose. If the job is meant to be you will get it. If it's not you won't, and there may be another place that lies before you where you may be needed. Worrying doesn't change anything, it just causes stress. Just pray to be put in the place where God sees it fit that you may be able to help those in need of your services, and have faith. Good luck.:heartbeat

It's totally normal to be stressed after an interview. But hey,.... you should only worry about things you can control and not on things that other people control. It seems like you did well on your interview so you did your part. Now the decision is up to them. There's really nothing you can do about it now. Why don't you just keep yourself busy and try not to think about it. Good luck!!!

For future reference, it doesn't hurt to send written thank you letters/cards to each person with whom you interviewed. Even if it may not be "necessary", it's just one more semi-expected form of "sucking up" as part of the great job search/interviewing dance. If all else fails, it shows that you made additional effort to thank them for taking the time to interview you for the position.
