Any workplace should have a procedure in place to complain about bullying.You need to talk to your manager.Do you have a union rep?

What exactly is the ward clerk doing? It's hard to give advice without details.

Since when does the ward clerk make up the assignment for the nurses?

Bullying and racism are two different creatures. Get your facts in order before you go to war.

Document every incident and how you approached your manager and then call the union.

thanks for replies, I also think bullying and racism are different, but this unit clerk (she is white) ALWAYs bully visible minority, that's why I said she is racist;

One nurse aide (of course she is visible minority) told me, whenever or whoever need NA's help, once this NA was on duty, this white unit clerk paged her first, never gave a choice for break, this unit clerk even went to check NA's job, for example this NA drained Foley catheter, if there were 20cc left, this unit clerk will called this NA, you didn't totally drain your foley....as a nurse, we all know if 800ml urine in bag, left 20cc in bag is acceptable, but this unit clerk always check this NA's work, eventually this NA moved to another unit;

As a unit clerk, she sits in the nursing station with charge nurse everyday, she know which kind of pt is coming, ONCE there are total care pt, confused pt, whoever need more help, she assigned to me right away, charge nurse won't care, only if I have strong reasons to against it... Honestly I am not a person like fighting everyday;

I talked with one charge nurse, she agreed this unit clerk has very strong and bad personality; I tAlked with our manager once, she said it's hard to proof the unit clerk always give me hard job; our supervisor hired expert to do the inservice regarding how to handle bully, but nothing can change this unit clerk;

I have feeling the manager doesn't want me to call the union, she doesn't want to damage the reputation of this unit..

But this unit clerk's behaviour really bother me, once I work with her, I had headache, more thing to complain is: when nurse need help from NA, if this nurse is the unit clerk's friend, the unit clerk will page NA for her; if I said I need NA help me, this unit clerk will tell me, all the NAs are busy....

Why is the unit clerk assigning patients?

OK so you need to document the behaviour that you feel is bullying and contact your union steward. You also need to look at your work place's policies and procedures. There should be a process for lodging a complaint.

Good suggestion, I will do that, thanks
