I have been working on the med surg unit as an intern at my local hospital. I graduate in May and I am very excited. I was told that now is the time to be applying for positions. I would like to start on my current unit, because I have a lot of great connections and support from others.
I am planning to talk to my manager about this, but how should I approach this?
I am already updating my resume and my manager has already voiced hopes that I will stay (good sign.) I'm just a bit nervous about talking with my manager about this.. I need all the advice I can get.

Based on what you wrote above, I'm sure manager will be happy to have you stay! Set up a private meeting by asking them if you could have ten minutes of their time. Inform them that you've enjoyed your internship and that you'd like to apply for a line on the unit. Ask them if there's anything else you can do that will make you a better candidate. They've already expressed they want you to stay, so no need to be nervous!

Agree! Sounds like you and your manager are already on the same page.

Fully agree!! It sounds like your manager already has confidence in you, which means you're likely a shoe in. Now you just need to have confidence in yourself! (Or fake it til you make it!). As my mom would say, you gotta put your big girl panties on and do it! Good luck!!
