Dear Friends,
I am in the process of filling out my Florida Nursing License application.I am a Canadian that went to nursing school in Ontario, and I was first licensed there. After working in Ontario,I moved to Virginia and got my nursing license there and worked there for a few years. Now I am applying for a Florida nursing license!Talk about jumping through hoops! How long will this process take me? I have no special issues like poor health, criminal background or any nursing disciplinary action.I saw a website called "floridanurseslicenses.com".The owner of the company lives in Tallahassee, and for 125$-he will do your application ASAP.Is this worth my while? I read a couple of threads where nurses were saying it took sometimes 6-12 months to get their licenses. Is this true?Or is that just extreme cases.
ANY feedback would be helpful.
Warmest Regards!

I can not see any point in paying someone to do what you can do. Do you have CES already as a foreign trained nurse they may wish that before hand before they will process you application.

Hi.
I've been doing the "endorsement" for 8 months now. The nursing Board of Florida it's the worst in America. They are slow and will take all the time possible to answer you. They also are making all kind of "obstacles" for foreing nurses to obtain the lisence there. I wrote to that office too explaining my situation. So far, no answer. If you decide to go with them, woukd you keep me posted? Thanks.

I am also in the process of applying for a Florida license. Here is a link to the application and all the requirements.
I printed this out and having been using it "line by line" to make sure I have my ducks in a row.
Hope this helps. ~

I'm also in the queue for a FL license. Filled out onlie app, paid fee. Got a letter two weeks later that I needed CEUs and fingerprint cards, which I already knew, but no way to include those online. I sent in the CEU proofs and fingerprint cards a week ago, haven't heard anything yet. I was told that with all ducks in a row, it takes about a month to six weeks for US-trained nurses. Apparently it's the fingerprint/background check that takes up the time, or so it's said.
Update: I sent my CEU proofs and fingerprints last Wednesday via priority mail, expected them to arrive in Tallahassee on Friday. Got my letter yesterday (Friday) after one week giving me my license number and permission to work, actual license to follow. Seems like the turnaround time is getting faster.
And last update, the actual license came today (Monday), just three days after the letter giving me permission to work. For all that $$$, I expected something a bit fancier.

Sorry to bring up a post from the dead, my family is relocating to florida, and I am going to go there. I saw the information and the flordianurselicenses..com place and kind of leary about giving that kind of information out to someone i have no idea about. What is the 2 hour medication error prevention course and where can I get access to it? Do they take electronic fingerprint cards. I know my state board is not the quickest with a response and have personally been on hold for 3 hours at one time. As far as background, I have a clean background and clear license not even a speeding ticket. Does anyone also know about the sebastian or vero beach area and what I might be looking at as far as pay? also is it a union?

You don't need to pay anyone to do this. Just go to the Florida Board of Nurisng website and follow the instructions. The information for the medication error ceu's is on the website as well as how to get the finger prints. You will most likely have to go to your local police department to do the fingerprints. You can order the cards for fingerprinting from the Fl BON website.
Thank you for your post, I sent off all my stuff today. I was nervous about getting all of the information correct, I still remember the secretary from my LVN program and the fear she instilled in us about the application process. She is a tough cookie. I think I am good to go, sent stuff off today and will post when I hear back.
