Houston Nurse Residency Winter/Spring 2024

Hi everyone! I will be graduating with my BSN this semester and I'm applying for residencies in the Houston area. I already applied to Houston Methodist but wanted to hear about other programs that might be interesting. Best of luck!

I emailed the [email protected]

and they emailed back saying:

"Hello, 

 

Thank you for your follow up on your residency application. As of right now we will be starting our first round of interviews this week. If you are invitied for an interview you will receive an email from Signup Genuis.

Unfrortunately due to the large amount of applications and limited positions we are not going to be able to interview all applicnts. We thank you again for your interest in Harris Health System and we wish you the best of luck!”

And YES with typos and all ?

I had a phone interview with a recruiter for the clinical nurse research residency, she said she would pass my info along to the unit and they would reach out if interested.

Question, has anyone in the group waited out and re applied to the next cohort if you didn't get in where you would have liked to? Did you do anything in the mean time? I'm new to the area and just curious. Feel free to private message me if it's too personal to put in the chat. ☺️

I'm didn't get the position I wanted this cohort, so I'm just going to wait until next cohort to reapply, that'll give me time to work on my interview skills.

I got scheduled for a panel interview on Tuesday via zoom. MD also sent out emails for their invite only hiring event on the 27th

Hey, does anyone know if texas children's or houston methodist require you to sign a contract? Like a 1 or 2 year commitment? And is memorial hermann's only if you get tuition reimbursment?

TCH and MH don't require contracts , I think that's  just HCA

I don't think hca requires contracts anymore either! Pretty sure it's only if you accept a sign on bonus

There's no contract for HM

Got an email from Methodist today and they are not extending an offer. I decided to consider this entire process with finding a job in Houston and make the decision to pursue a nursing career in my home state. It's crazy how I told my preceptor today that I was considering working at the hospital I am currently precepting at and was offered a job 3 hours later by the manager. Good luck to everyone and I'm praying you all find yourselves where you are meant to be!
