Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2022

Published

Hey everyone! I saw that there was a residency thread for Spring but not for Summer 2022. I graduate in March 2022 and I believe a lot of the Summer cohorts begin in June/July. I plan to move to Houston once I've written my NCLEX! Where is everyone considering applying? I am looking at Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann, MD Anderson Cancer Center and St Lukes. I would also prefer to be at hospitals specifically in the sugar land area so I hope when the time comes theyll have the units I want in certain locations. I would like to be in the PACU! Is there anyone else that wants to work in the PACU as well?

Has the Memorial Hermann residency started? I see they're still posting the new grad link for Summer 2022, so I'm wondering if they're still trying to fill spots

For the OR at TMC we start on the 18th I’m not sure about everyone else though

I love OR, I wanted to specialize in that! You're gonna do awesome!

Has anyone who is starting at memorial Hermann July 25th received any communication after completing the health screening? I did mine 3 weeks ago and was cleared to work and told I’d receive an email, but I still haven’t heard anything.

Who is your onboarding partner? You should email her/him. I start August 1 and mine is  very good in communicating with me. I had my health screening July 6 and still waiting for her email.

Does the health screening require a blood draw?

Yes. They asked me if I was fasting and I was not. However that was not a problem

I start 7/25 at the woodlands as well. I did my health screening day on 6/25 and haven't heard anything back either. Trying to not get anxious about it LOL.

I emailed them a few days ago and haven’t heard back yet ?

I am starting with ben taub on 07/18 and need to submit a NCLEX testing date, but I still have not received my ATT yet. For those starting with harris health and were unsuccessful on their initial NCLEX, and have not received their ATT- how are yall filling out the "action plan" document that was sent to us? I'm not sure if I ask my unit leadership for an extension or not because I don't have an ATT to see if I can schedule a testing date by their deadline 08/17... even if I request for an extension, I can't let them know how long I need because I don't have an ATT to see available testing dates. I am lost on what to do... we need to submit a testing date by today and I've contacted the manager of the nurse residency program, but she has not responded to me.

Hi. Sorry to hear that, that’s frustrating. Not related to the action plan form but the ATT. Have you contacted TBON? I was in a similar position and I had to call and keep calling . Even when they opened a ticket to escalate my case I called everyday. Luckily, a few days after, an agent kept me on hold and had his supervisor handle it and I got it within the hour.

You might receive the email closer to the start date. I start on Monday, July 18th and I believe we all received the email yesterday so, it might be the same for y'all.
