How many patients is the maximum your floor can hold, and what is the staffing ratio? How many nurses are on and how many cna's? How does your hospital handle 1:1 needs?

What shift matters as well (along with the floors staffing budget which varies from floor to floor)

There are 2 31 bed units on my floor. We are an intermediate floor so the ratio is usually 1:4-5. I am not sure about the stepdown or ICU units although I know stepdown is about 1:3-4 and ICU 1:1-2. We need a better acuity tool because even though I am on a, technically intermediate floor, we get some tough, complicated pts.
