Hospitals in Austin/Dallas/Houston

Specializes in OR.

Hello! I'm just wondering (and this might have already been asked but I have to leave in a few for school) if anyone could direct me to a few good hospitals that they know of in either the Dallas, Houston, or Austin area. I'm interested in applying out of state (from TN) because I will be graduating in May of this year.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Houston:

1. The Methodist Hospital (med center)

2. St Lukes Episcopal Hospital (med center)

3. Texas Childrens Hospital

4. MD Anderson Hospital

5. Memorial Hermann Hospital (med center)

6. Ben Taub

The 2 bottom hospitals are level 1 trauma centers, you'll get plenty of excitement there. Good Luck.

There are many more choices in Houston, but for a new grad, these would be my top recommendations.

Tx RN has done a nice job of listing med center facilities. These hospitals are also the most popular clinical training sites for all our nursing schools, so their new grad programs fill up fast with local students. Don't be discouraged if you run into this... Most of them also have satelllite facilities in other areas of town, including new facilities that will be opening soon.

Welcome to Texas - hope you choose Houston! Don't hesitate to PM me if I can provide any additional info.

Hi!

Here are some in the DFW area!

For some of the Medical Centers:

Medical Center of Plano

Medical Center of Lewisville

North Hills Hospital

Medical Center of Arlington

For some of the Baylor Hospitals:

Baylor Medical Center of Irving

Baylor Medical Center of Plano

Baylor Medical Center of Grapevine

Baylor Medical Center Dallas (downtown)

Baylor All Saints (Fort Worth)

Presbyterian just joined with Texas Health Resources so here are some of those:

Denton Presby

Arlington Memorial Hospital

Harris Methodist (Fort Worth)

Harris Southwest (HEB)

Then there are the county hospitals where you will get your share of interesting patients also:

Parkland Hospital in Dallas

John Peter Smith in Fort Worth (JPS)

There are childrens' hospitals:

Dallas Childrens Medical Center

Cook Children's in Fort Worth

I am sure there are many more, these are just off the top of my head. Hope this helps and good luck searching for where you may want to apply!

When I did an externship at St. Luke's in Houston, we had a lot of out of staters...and it seems we have quite a few in the new grad internship (at least this winter) at another facility.

Yes, Houston is full of hospitals.. nice ones :)
