I currently work in a SNF been there for over two years now. This is my first job after graduating ADN. I've been thinking of trying to apply for a hospital job because alhough the people I work with are great, I feel like I'm not learning a lot in the nursing home. But I don't know anybody who works in a hospital so I have no idea how much the pay is.
How do I go about finding out the rate per hour before turning in applications? I am in the Chicagoland area, Cook county. Do I turn in applications and just hope it could be at least the same or higher than what I'm currently getting per hour? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Or any input on how much is your starting pay if you work in a hospital? Thanks!

hello soski,
i think Chicago hospital salary range from 26 to 28 dollars per hour and this depends on years experience and specialty.
btw, whats the name of your SNF ?

As souleater11 said - 26-28, maybe $2 more for shift differential - that's it...
My facility (it's a Rehab facility in Gold Coast) starts RNs with no experience at $26.50. My coworker with 1 year of experience - $28...
I'm LPN, so even didn't bother to look for hospital jobs, but what I've heard from my ADN coworkers almost all hospitals within city limits went "magnet" and they are hiring BSNs... Try at Swedish, Norwegian, Thorek, Mt Sinai...

Have you started a BSN program? It may be hard to find a hospital job with an ADN in Chicago.
If you can find one, I would expect around 27-28 as base pay hourly plus shift differential.
@souleater11 I work at one of the Alden SNFs
