Has anyone ran into (esp in Texas) a Hospital where only RN's can read TB tests?
I just received an email saying only RN can read if is on one of our Marketers as Hosp. turned down on him because was read by LVN.
I've NEVER heard that, and that's 30 yrs of experience with ALOT of giving and reading, so I don't get it. Anyone have a rationale for that???
Thanks,

I could understand if the LPN wasn't certified.. Perhaps that is why??

In California giving AND reading a PPD is well within the LVN scope of practice and I have certainly done my share when I worked in Primary Care...

I'm in Texas. I give and read PPDs daily. Even did our entire hospitals yearly PPD testing for employee health.
Yeah, I thought I was mis-reading it, and did ask for clarification and acting DON said "OH YES, ALL the HOSP are like that".
Then I wondered, WHY would a marketer have to show his TB test to hosp. Something is just weird here. Maybe I can get to bottom in Monthly nurses meeting. I just can't figure out the reasoning why ANYONE would think that an RN was needed to read a PPD. By ME!
