Sounds like a colossal failure by Social Services
The 2 doctors will probably say the nurse told them the pt was fine.

Quote A Georgia hospital dumped a seriously ill Black man, with tubes and a catheter still attached to him, on a sidewalk after his Medicare ran out. The 68-year-old patient, who had "a fever, signs of sepsis, a urinary tract infection and an elevated heart rate," according to WSB-TV, was found collapsed and unresponsive.

Did they think this was a racist incident? Is that why they included a racial identifier in the title?
The story doesn't have a lot of details.

How awful. And clearly this wasn't a discharge through the appropriate channels because no one is going to send a patient out the doors with their catheter and IVs still in.

I agree. Many patients have altered mental status and wonder off. Medicare also doesn’t cover cost patient sitters.
I heard of “story” of a patient being discharged from the hospital in pajamas and he was later found outside directing traffic, but his IV access was removed first.
