Hospital Case Managers.....more than annoying

So of course it's a Friday. The case manager from the hospital calls telling me she has a referral for me. She called 4 times in 30 minutes. Wait, I say...I've already said no because we don't have a contract with that insurance company. Oh she says...YOU"LL have to call his insurance company and work it out.

I had an empty bed so I called the insurance company and was told the guy had NO out of contract benefit. The insurance case manager said she had gotten absolutely NO information from the hospital and didn't even know why a 58 year old guy with a broken clavicle needed snf care. So I faxed her off some information that I had to search for. Called the hospital to tell them of the snafu and the cm started hollering at me saying OF COURSE he has insurance.

Honestly..what is the point of hollering at me? I'm just trying to get the guy in for rehab without incurring the wrath of the business office when the bill doesn't get paid. It took almost an hour and a half to get an answer from the ins.company and then I had to speak to their business office (Friday...my business office people had left) to haggle over the rate. I finally got it all done. Called the hospital....you got it...ALL the case managers had left. So after calling again and again and hollering at me...she left before she knew the guy had a bed! To top it off, here it is, the end of the NEXT day and they still haven't sent him. That's it....just a rant.
