home health

Hi. I have a few questions about HH. I am currently a LPN working at a skilled nursing facility. I have been a nurse for about 1 year and am really interested in HH. Do some agencies pay by visit. Ive talked to some coworkers who have worked in HH and said they get paid by visit and the time for the visits are up to the nurse and pt. I love this idea of flexibility. I have also heard the pay per visit is around 30 dollars and a nurse can have as many visit as he/she can handle. Ive heard of nurses doing 70-80 visits per wk. This all sounds too good to be true. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:nuke::nuke:

It depends by which home health agency you work for. Some agencies give you a schedule for an 8 hour day. You can finish that schedule in less than 4 hours and get paid for a full 8 hour day.

It all depends on the agency I guess.

Welcome to the site. Remember you can also do shift work, also called continuous care, if you prefer. Shift work pays an hourly rate and you work shifts that you schedule for one or more clients that range from four to 16 hours. Some nurses work 40 hours a week for the same client. Others work for several clients, others work only on call for call offs. You can arrange just about any schedule that is acceptable to the patient, you, and the agency.

Productivity = amount visits required to meet minimum for FT staff can vary by agency.

My employer has minimum of 32 visits/week. Anything above that is paid at perdiem rate if in FT 5 day wk/position. Some nurses see 40 pts/wk.

Other options include WE 12hr shifts FRi /Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun /Mon and get paid for 40 hrs. Expectation see 10pts per day with 1-2 admisions per day.

70-80 vists/week is not the norm for skilled cases and will burnout quickly.

Thanks everyone so much for responding. I can tell already how helpful this site is going to be for a new nurse I think I like the idea of setting up my own schedule with my patients. This is what I have been hearing I just wanted to make sure it was possible. A coworker says she has X amt of pts. She is told how many times per wk they need to be seen and then it is up to her from there. I love that idea. She also said she only has to stop back at the office once a wk to drop off papers. No clocking in or anything like that. I also like that I can take on more visits if I need the money and cut back when it is too much. Also I love the idea of one on one time with pts. I think I am def going this out.
