Home health or SICU?

Published

Hello, everybody.

I just graduated and passed my NCLEX. I got a position at SICU(have not started yet) and thinking that maybe home health would be better to continuing my education. I want to go back to school asap to get my FNP.

Am I over estimating ICU and under estimating home health?

Which experience would be more helpful when I start my school?

I have been reading a lot of thread on this site and I feel so overwhelmed.

Anyone have an advise for me?

If I were you, I'd take ICU then transfer to ER, which has been termed the best experience for FNP. Although, home health would be less stressful during school and offer schedule flexibility.

Home health is great assessment and collaboration of care experience for an experienced RN but the new grad's focus is always pulled to time mgmt and charting, the rest doesn't usually come in the first year.
