I have a problem I was accused of pushing a patient an she has said she fell. I have never pushed anyone and would never but she has told others that the I have so now Ive been called into the dons office (im to go in tommorow) my problem is I didnt do it and I dont want to call patient a lair so how do i get out of this mess with out lossing my job. oh an she did stumble around (but did not fall) when i wouldnt let her hang on me while walking its her way of getting me to grab her hand to stop her from falling then she will grab an hang on me while she tries to walk with me. and earlier she didnt want to go to the bathroom so she sat on the floor an laid back like she fell( she goes to the floor then lays real slow so she doesnt hit her head this is how i know she was faking a fall she has done this often an to everyone) I know she doesnt know that this is not a funny joke an was just upset cause i wouldnt let her do something she wanted when it was time to eat what do i do.

I know how you feel this happens a lot and if she did this before then the DON knows this is her personality.. Don't be afraid go in and tell the truth about what happend ...GOOD LUCK !

I was not found to be at fault which is good news but now I have another problem i now have a verbal abuse because i made a mistake when i wrote my statement I wrote that i apologized for yelling at her but i meant yelling after her ( she took off running and i yelled to her to stop running) i first wrote that i had to yell AFTER her then wrote the apology when she was eating her lunch. this ofcourse will be reported to the state but will i be able to amend the second from at to after or am i just screwed on this?

Okay I was in a bad situation which a patient accused me of physical abuse that was found to be not true, but now because of one word in my statement I am being reported to the BON i had wrote that when the patient got up an ran through the house i had to yell after her to stop. then i wrote that i apologized to her for yelling AT her earlier which is the part that they now are saying i verbally abused her but it was just mistake on my part for not using AFTER the second time so will i be able to amend this mistake or am i screwed? please help I've been stressing over this and lost my job its ruined my birthday and causing uclers. :nailbiting:

Sorry... you should never be yelling at or "after" a patient, ever.

Oy! perhaps you have never worked with the HOH? In the OP perhaps the word "calling" to/after would have been better....

so because I used the word yelled instead of called even though its the same, its still in a louder voice than talking. I give up I dont care anymore its messed up that i have seen a nurse physically abuse 2 patients and turned her in and she wasnt even repremanded but i have a patient that gets mad an says things that are not true and then they looked for something to report me. So let the abuse go so long as its only against the ones that cant talk or defend them selves right, and if the patient can talk and defend themselves we let them ruin nurse's career cause they can?

oh and im not the only nurse that has called out to stop running there are two other nurses (one being the nurse i have seen abusing patients) that have had do this on occasion to.

Hey, I am on your side! but have the occassional issue of choosing a less than desirable word once or twice. Yelling has a negative connotation, calling, not so much.
