How many field RN's here see more than 10 patients in a day? How do you do it?

Hey Isabelle,

Just out of curiosity, what type of patients do you see for Maxim? I was talking to a recruiter today who wants to give me all of his new referrals. I was really calling about peds private duty but they didn't have any RN level cases so he threw out the visiting thing as an option.

I don't work for Maxim, they don't have any home health agencies in Louisiana. Considering their most recent problem (Fraud to the tune of 150 million) I don't think I would work for them.

When my former Maxim office took on intermittent work, they did not have enough business to keep one nurse busy full time. Before agreeing to do visits, make certain that you are aware of how much work they will have for you. Salary or pay per visit. If salary, may be ok. Pay per visit, may get slim paychecks. Just find out the whole deal before committing.

Thanks Caliotter.

I dont think its going to be very many at first. The recruiter told me he turns down about four referals per week but if he had an RN willing to do intermittant visits he would advertise and try to get more. I was thinking about maybe getting a part time job and also dedicating one or two days to do visits for Maxim until they build up clients. May be a dead end opportunity though.

HaHa sorry I read your post wrong. The HH nurses I know take usually 8 max. I dont know how anyone would do over 10. Thats seems like too much.

I agree, my limit is 7 and my tail is dragging on number 6. One of the nurses who posts on this forum posted that with new software (kinnear I think) she is able to see up to 20 patients per day???? I asked how and have had no response, lol.

We really don't like our LPNs to do more than 6 a day. By the time they drive to all the houses, call docs, write up paperwork, it's well more than an 8 hour day if they are doing a thorough assessment on each patient. I don't feel that it is safe for the patients to do more than 6 consistently, and the nurses will burn out.
