Emergency and assessment changes

  1. I am starting as a home health care nurse today. I will be doing shifts. Has anyone ever had an emergency while doing a shift in the home and how did you handle it? If there is a change in a patient's assessment that you feel requires attention, do you call nursing supervisor or doc first? Anyone ever arrive to find patient deceased and how did you handle it?
I am used to hospital nursing, so these are some ? that I am a little nervous about. Didn't get much guidance from the office on these types of issues so I thought I would ask the experts.

Know your code status for the client, know your emergency information, check if the person is a DNR and gets only comfort care if you are aloud to pronouce per state laws and agency policies and always, always call your on call nurse for questions/changes.
