Am I the only HH nurse paid hourly?

I have been reading this section of the boards for awhile and see most people are paid per visit and do charting at home, etc. In the agency I work for, I go into the office in the morning, divide up the visits with the other nurses, then do them and the charting throughout the day. If I can't get to all the charting, I do it the next day. But I get paid for the hours I am there - usually 8 a day. Even if there happens to be only 1 visit for me to do that day - I still stay and get paid my time. Is this really odd for home health?? Until reading here, I thought this was the way it was!

I get paid hourly and always have a full case load. It seems to be the norm where I live. If I work over eight, I charge OT.

Well, I got the salary HH job offered to me and I gladly took it!....They pay 50 cents per mile and give a company cell phone along with some other perks my present company doesn't offer. :yeah:

Congrats dijmart!!! Good Luck!!

I have been in HH since 2003. The agency provides labtops which charting is done on, as the big boys don't want "field nurses" to be in the office anymore than necessary. I am paid an hourly, as the visits average on an hour or so actual direct pt contact, but the oasis charting can take another 2-3 hrs. If I am on the laptop, I'm on the clock. It's all considered work time.

I know I couldn't make my bills if I was paid per visit

We get paid by the hour, too. We see up to 6 pt daily and have hours of paperwork because our boss is determined to have no defisencies with the State. it works. I am prn but usually will work 30+ hours a week. We turn down new admissions daily. My cousin in FL got paid by the visit and hated it. Hours of paper work at home for 1 price of a visit. I have cousin who is a Hospice Director in TX...will have to ask how she does it.
