Home health as a new nurse and hourly rates in Dallas, TX

Posted

I graduated with my BSN in December, took my NCLEX and passed, and now I have finally started looking for a job.

I have applied at various hospitals in the area, and I haven't gotten a call back from any of them. I also applied at several home health companies and have gotten 2 interviews.

So far one has offered me a job but I am not sure if this is the best first job to have being a new nurse and all. My real question though is the hourly pay for this position... they do not offer any benefits, I would be working nights, and they offered me $24/hour ... is that a good pay rate in this area as a pediatric home health nurse or should I keep looking?

Preemie 2 RN, ASN, RN

Specializes in NICU Nurse. Has 2 years experience.

I work as a new grad in the DFW area as a pediatric home health/private duty nurse. I do shift work (only see one patient) and I make $25 an hour, work full time and have benefits. Your situation sounds similar besides the benefits.

Hi

I'm a new grad. I have a full time job and I want to supplement my income with home health.

I would like to know the heck OASIS is and is REQUIRED to work as an RN in home health. I'm in the state of FL.

Thanks
