Holistic Health Assessment starting 9/23

Published

Hey everyone! I wanted to start a thread to see who is enrolling in this course. I have purchased my books used on Amazon. Hopefully we can get through this course together!

Me! I'm in it!

I have been doubling up in classes but am taking this one by itself based on what I have heard about it...plus I'm actually going to be in Europe the last week of class so I'm hoping to get ahead! I am thinking of re-reading through all of the threads on here for guidance before we start!

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

If you thought other classes were nit-picky, this one is THE most nit-picky. The assessments you have to do are very detailed. Ideally, find someone that you live with to be your guinea pig for the next 5 weeks, so you can assess them as long and as frequently as you need to.

Advice: follow the instructions and the rubric to a T, even if you feel like you're repeating stuff and over.

Also, don't forget the little yet obvious things like the temperature is 98.4 F or the pulse is 74 bpm. You will get dinged if you leave the obvious out...and those 0.25 point dings can add up fast.

And yes, you really do need the hammer, otoscope and tuning fork. See if you can beg/borrow them for the class, or get some cheapies on Amazon.

I'm taking it too!

Thank you for the advice Meriwhen!

I'm in it, too. My books and supplies are on the way. The thread from 7/1 regarding this class is helpful. I'm trying to relax my brain before I dive in again. So glad for the break. The advice is so helpful. Thanks, Meriwhen!

This sounds like a great plan!

Great! Thanks alot. I will order my hammer, otoscope and tuning fork this week.

I am glad to see more people enrolled in this course. I hope we will all do good in this class. I am slightly nervous though.

A couple things I was counted off for in assessment was not saying "in all ten digits" when referring to the fingers/toes and listing mmhg on blood pressure readings. The other advice about following the rubric no matter how repetitive is the best advice. There are papers that will have a 24 hour diet recall listed 3-4 times.

And so it begins.....

Ugh...a week without classes was glorious. I'm actually sitting home and relaxing on a Sunday night...ahhhh

I went to Italy during HIST1312 and PATHO and had no problem at all logging into Blackboard and completing discussions and assignments. Make sure you have the right electric conversion plug and you are all set. Have fun! I absolutely love taking classes online.
