  1. The state bureau of investigation cAme in and showed me a pic of someone they are investigating for fraud of disability. Asked me many questions. One being if I knew this person. And their name. I did as he/she is a pt. I have the name after seeing their badge. Is that a hippa violation?????

    Defer to your facility risk management. The investigator should have zero issue with this, take the card and contact risk management. If the patient is committing fraud then your employer won't get paid for services rendered. Even if the investigator provided an administrative subpoena (where limited disclosure is permitted depending on the specificity of the subpoena) you don't want to reveal the wrong info
