I have decided to start a thread for HCC future nurses that are applying for class beginning 2015 of spring. I would like us all to be able to share and relate to one another, while experiencing this exciting moment. I know it may seem a little early but better sooner then later. This will be my last semester before I can apply to the program. I am registered to take micro with lab and humanities fall 2014. I will be able to submit my application in right after my grades are posted. The deadline for the 2015 spring class is June 1st if I am not mistaken. How is everyone else holding up?
Hey guys My Documents were updated everything says "received" except:1.HCC Application - under review - not received
2.Nursing Pre-requisites - under review - not received
My Last name is Cedeno, so I am assuming they are going by alphabetical order, be on the look out.
Congrats on your updates!!
Good Evening all...so today was the second day of orientation! I must say very overwhelming. I have taken 3 pages front and back of notes. This is where you ask all questions. We met most of our NP1 teachers today. The Student Nurses Association came in and discussed why it was important to join. You guys can just search Fl Student Nurses Assoc and read up on it. We spoke a little about clinicals. You will have 1 patient to follow the first semester and you are in charge of doing reports on them as directed. I'm typing from bed so bare with me I may forget some things. The nursing care plan you have to do is 12 pages long! We went over how blackboard works and evolve...that is a website that has some our books. I may have addressed books yesterday and gave the wrong prices...print package is like 560.00 and then they offer another pkge for about 670.00 that has eBook and print book. I'm going for that...it's more beneficial...you can highlight...the book will read to you and you can copy and paste to create your own study guides. Something really cool is Simulation...that is like a lab class that you work on these simulation dolls. They're like really people but dummies controlled by the computer. It's pretty neat. The baby turned blue for example so we would have to evaluate why she turned blue etc. We looked at the uniform today that a student had in. They recommend all white nursing shoes and your scrub top to kind if be fitting. It's hard to explain but I'll find what it looks like and send a pic if I can. Spoke about hygiene.. Being on time..The teachers said we should begin to get emails by Aug 1st. We need to stay ahead of the game. We should have already read the first few chapters by the time our first day begins. However our issue is will financial aid kick in early to give us some time. Dosage calculations need to be studied and lab values. I was able to get my campus switched along with a few others...so I'm assuming that a lot more people didn't go through with HCC program. I was able to see how my teacher is set up. There are a lot if supplemental assignments..games..flash cards..hangman to help you. Make friends because this will be your family for the next 2 years. Help and support each other because it's not going to be easy. Plan and get prepared..develop a game plan. The more organized you are, the smoother things will go! I will leave you guys with that for tonight..if I remember anything else I will message sometime tomorrow. Have a good night☺

Wow thank you for all that information. It already sounds intense but exciting to being a step closer to your goal.
Yes thank u so much, what is this 12 page care plan? And did they anything about the alternate seats, since some students didn't come to orientation and lost their seats will letters go out to alternates to fill the spaces even though orientation had taken place already? So white shoes and white tops for scrubs? How about the pants? Wine color right
I honestly was not worried about who didn't come or anything else in that matter. I'm sure there is a possibility that other alternates could be called, but then again maybe not because they missed a lot of information. There was also a Muslim holiday that is taking place so some were excused. You guys need to read the Nursing manual as it explains everything from uniforms to absences. Make sure you read that because you will be required to sign a paper. White shoes..white tops...port wine pants and jacket if needed. HCC emblems are available in bookstore. They need to go on the left sleeve of shirts and jacket. Care plan is what just what it says..it's a plan of care for the patient. All that will be taught to us. I hope I was able to answer everything for you. So you guys just sit tight and your time will come soon. Fell free to message any other questions and I will answer if I can.
