Hello all,
I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Thanks moneek, when i was searching through sections on the hcc website i couldn't find anthing for that time and was trying to see what the reviews of each teacher was. But yes that is a great option! I live 5 minutes from southshore so thats in the middle of the two other schools, im having a hard time putting numbers on those choices.
It is night and weekends. It is not a new section, but it is only available during the spring start ASN. If you search sections on hawknet, you will have to look at spring 2012 DM campus nursing classes to see the instructors.Just curious...does anyone know if the DMNW is a new section? Does N stand for night and the W stand for weekend? I was researching some of the teachers and I can't find any that teach at this time.
I took both of my A & P classes (in the morning) there and loved the campus. I have Southshore as my first choice for nursing. Its the Ruskin exit off of 75 and as soon as you get off you make a right at the first light and if I remember correctly a left at the first street, drive down and make a right at stop sign and school is on the right. I've attended all the campuses except plant city and I loved going there. I live in Riverview and have never sat in traffic on 75 going South. As soon as you get off the exit it likes a 4 min drive to the school.
I didn't get inI got a denial letter my gpa was a 3.1. I knew those three C's that I got before I decided to do nursing would hurt me.
I am so lost and sad right now, I dont know what to do now. Anyone have any helpful ideas?
You can try to retake the classes at PHCC, SPC, or another community college to get your GPA up. Just make sure that the advisor would allow it. You can also go to school to get your LPN and then apply for the transition program at HCC. If this is your dream, don't give up. Keep on trying!

Indeed, shakeitoff219... LPN is your best option. I am not 100% but I want to say LPNs are auto-accepted to LPN-RN transition programs. LPN is one year I think. If you do that perhaps you can join us for Semester 3 as I think that's where LPNs catch up? But again I am not 100%.

I could understand why you have not got your letter yet because you live in orlando, but I live in brandon. My gpa is a 3.71, so I am sure I got in. The wait is unbearable.
