Hello all,

I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Sounds to me like they are starting at the top and working down. No letter for me today, however a) I'm a 3.52 or b) I'm in Orlando, so maybe the Post Office has something to do with this since you all live closer.

The waiting till Monday is going to be so bleh! Congrats to all of you that have letters so far though.

kvil713,

Congratulations on becoming an alternate! It is a good thing. I know you are upset, but hang in there a little longer and try to wait it out. You did NOT get a denial and that is positive! Many of the alternates from Spring 2012 got seats, but they had to wait. Don't give up!

I'm in guys!!!! See everyone at orientation!!!! My pre req gpa was 3.9!! So excited and i got my fingers crossed for everyone else!!!! Yay!!!!!! Time to celebrate!!!!!

Yeah, it's probably the post office. Good news is that since I got in, you know for sure that HCC will accept your MCB course since we both took the only one SPC offers. With a 3.52 you know you'll at least be an alternative, but have a pretty good chance of getting a straight acceptance.

I am IN!!!! Woo hoo! Just got the letter today. GPA was 3.71

I have been saving a chilled bottle of wine to hear if it made the cut.. Time to celebrate!

Has anyone heard anything about the South Shore location or Plant City locations? I am needing to list the request for campus assignment and I live out in Wesley Chapel. DM is my first choice but debating which is worse I4 for Plant City or 75South for South Shore.

Plant City is right next to the Interstate. I'm not sure about South shore.

Well then maybe it is the Post Office, since kvil713 got her letter as an alternate. So that means they aren't necessarily starting from the top and working down. So, Monday night (when I get home from work) I will check the mailbox for sure!

Also Shauny2k3, you said earlier "They had a lot more to choose from than I thought they would. " Does the letter say something regarding number of applicants then?

It doesn't say anything about the number of applicants. What I meant is that I didn't realize they had so many AM classes. I thought they had 1 NW class, 1 AM at DM, and the rest afternoons. The list shows 3 morning classes, 2 afternoon and 1 NW.

Ah. I thought NW was the most popular? That leads me to believe AM periods are. Still... average 23 or so people per class * 6 sections = 138. Big group I think!

We have all done well and I know that we will all get in regardless if we are alternates or not. For those of us that already received our acceptance letters, let us pray and keep our fingers cross for the rest of our team-mates to get in as well.
