We may be moving out to 29 Palms soon (not by choice), and I was looking at hospitals out there and it seems this is the closest to where we'd be living. I've heard one thing from a friend who said "don't work there, it's a danger to your license". Well, truth of the matter is that people say that about my current job, and I really love it there. I'm not afraid of a rural type hospital. So what can you tell me about this one?
anyone?
that's not a good sign...

I lived in palm desert for about 3 years and I know that the nurses did not speak highly of high desert. granted that was about 10 years ago!
good luck! If you don't like working there you can maybe group your days altogether at your new job and stay local to the other hosp (like 6 on 8 off).

I was thinking of that. My job I have now is 3 hours from where we'd need to live. Considering renting a room and grouping days together 6 on 8 off like you said. Researching 29 Palms area to see if its worth it to stay or go though. Thanks for the input.

Hi,
I currently work at Hi-Desert Medical Center and I love it. Its a close knit community and in my opinion not a danger to your license if you are a safe nurse. Like you I moved here not by choice but because of situation. This is a rural hospital so if you are coming from a research based institution it will be a big culture shock. Hope this was helpfull. Maybe we are already co-workers :)
