Our school had to make better than 900 on the HESI. Not everyone did it so some are held back a semester while they take "remediation." The problem is that most of us have passed mock NCLEX tests.
from the people i have contacted that have taken both NCLEX and HESI, they are totally different species.
I personally think that HESI is an attempt to save the school's proverbial ass.
Let's discuss this subject i would really like to know what everyone thinks!
thanks:banghead:

HESI is from Mars, NCLEX is from Venus. :)
Yep, I've heard from nurses in the field, instructors and recent grads they're 2 different animals. My advisor's advice was to study the material from this year, plus HESI case studies at the Evolve Apply Web site and the Evolve HESI comprehensive review book, which I got online.
We have to get 900 too. I feel overwhelmed ... and this is just our practice HESI run!!

I read the HESI review book that you are talking about, and I did not make the score.
900 is equivalent to almost 90% correct rate.
where i went to school, all we had to make was 77% to pass a test and then all of a sudden 90% is what we had to make....
more info, i have read up on this HESI test and here is what i have found....National average for HESI takers is something around 820. I feel good but not great because i did beat national average but not 900.
I am making between 75 and 85 on every NCLEX practice i do. I am hoping that this confidence killer/HESI doesn't mess up my NCLEX
good luck with HESI!!!

Hated HESI and don't think it prepared me for NCLEX.

the hesi scores like the nclex. certain scores are weighted. like on nclex, some questions will be more weighted than others. that's why some people will finish the nclex after 75 questions, whereas someone else may pass with 150 questions. that's all i know about it. i think hesi is a good practice, for me personally.
have you taken the nclex?
no i haven't taken the nclex yet. i guess i should have said that this is the buzz around the campus during hesi final days when evveryone starts to freaked out and get stressed. we take a hesi test after every rotation. i've taken a peri-op, peds/ob, nutrition, and pysch hesi test, which is considered out final. i don't know, personally, how the nclex compares to the hesi.

We just a end-of-first year customized HESI (removed stuff we haven't learned yet). I did 945 on it, so that's good, but some of the questions were ridiculous. I can't share the question due to copyright, but one of the answer choices was "bake cookies" so that illustrates the type of question.

900 is NOT equivalent to 90% correct. It may be 90th percentile of test takers but not 90% of questions right. i know this because we just took exit hesi and i got over 900 and definately did not get 90% of all questions right. I was in the 90's percentile of test takers (it is totally different than percent right). We were required to get 850, and if not had to write a NCLEX study plan. Our instructors say it is a really good indicator of who will pass. Many who do not pass HESI and do not have a good study plan for NCLEX, do not pass NCLEX. I"m not saying they aren't different but I think the HESI is a good thing as far as giving people an idea what they need to focus on and if they need to spend more time on certain areas for the NCLEX.

Hey!!! Maybe you can help me! I just finished taking Hesi, and I'm tryna figure out about how many you can miss and still get a 900... I know that each question is weighed different... but im just trying to gague off of someone. So how may questions did you have? and how many did you miss?
We had 160 questions and I missed 32....I so hope i have a 900!!! If not I have one more time to take it or else i dont graduate.... please gimmie some kind of a hint... I'm so nervous. I took the test less than 4hrs ago... lol
