I purchased the study manuals given by the respective test providers. The HESI exam seemed to be easier and their manual was much closer to the exam than with the TEAS V. I also studied more (1 week total) for the HESI A2.

Anyone studying for this - where I fell down was on the math was ratios - study them and know them they have about 12 questions on this exam. Know your fractions how to subtract them and the borrowing aspect of it. I used the study material on this site and utube to study with. Only 4 hours for this exam and I used every minute of it. They added three sections to it which is Personality Style, Learning Style and Critical thinking - these are not graded but you must do them. So be careful with your time.

Now that this is done - I'm busy studying for my state boards for my LPN. Then MSC wants me to take HESI PN for my advance placement in their RN program. They told me that both of these exams are almost the same. So my December has become very busy studying and trying to pass these. I'll post how I do on the other exams.

If you're at that point and we've all been there where you just start crying and feel overwhelmed - take a break and tell yourself that you can do this. You got this! Believe me I've had to struggle for every good grade I ever received in the PN program that I was in. I was 44 years old when I was accepted into that program I graduated in October and I even won the Florence Nightingale Award. So if I can do it so can you. Math has always been my downfall - as you can see by my score. I study and study and I'm a whole lot better than I used to be. So if you are one of those people as well you can do it. Look at me. I had to take 5 math classes before I could get my credit towards my BSN (future to do after my RN). I should've bought stock in Kleenex because I cried so much when I would study - I felt that I couldn't do it - BUT I DID AND I CAN. My math score may not be the best - but they are good enough to pass. Now I rock at doing the Nursing math - it's so much easier to me than any other mathematics that I've had to learn thus far. ANYWAY - STAY STONG - YOU ALL CAN DO IT. :)

I was denied the first time, however, last week I was accepted to the University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston - School of Nursing: Accelerated BSN Program ... they should really work on that name.

I know this thread is old but how did you study for the Critical Thinking part?

Thank you

Taken at the College of Southern Idaho testing center on May 9, 2018. I have a Bachelor of Arts earned in 2004 and am switching careers to Nursing after 20 years in the business and information systems space. I took a round of courses in the Fall of 2017 (A&P 1, Chem 101 and Intro Statistics). I decided yesterday afternoon to take the HESI and see where I'd come out. I made ZERO preparations... literally had no idea what to expect on the exam.

My school requires a minimum 75% cumulative score for consideration to the ASN program.

Here's how I did:

(1) Reading Comprehension 94.00%

(2) Conclusions 75.00%

(3) Implications 93.00%

(6) Grammar 90.00%

(11) Math 94.00%
