Which? The pre-nursing school exam, or the end of semester nursing school tests?

Exit exams! Have to pass in order to graduate!

Been there, done that. I feel your pain. Do all the practice tests for all the semesters and then review things you may have forgotten (ie: I reviewed OB/Peds with Reviews and Rationales Series Books before I attempted the practice tests)

We had to pass the comp ATI at my school too in order to graduate, and those that did not pass it the second time could walk at graduation, but could not recieve their diploma until they passed an external exit course like Kaplan. What I did to pass was I took at least one practice exam in each category. The subject areas that I thought were more important like med-surg, pharm, pysch, I took all the practice exams. I also took all three practice comp ATIs. I think practicing questions, and learning from the rationales is most beneficial. The questions on the comp ATI deal with a lot of the same subject matter as the practice comp ATIs. I did not re-read any of the books, because I thought it would be too time consuming. Lastly, before, I took the comp, I read a Kaplan NCLEX book about test taking strategies. I highly recommend it. It helped me prioritize interventions using different strategies like Maslow's hierarchy of needs, ABCs, the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation), and safety (what will cause the client the least harm). It also had a lot of good practice questions as well. Reading the Kaplan book isn't necessary, I'm pretty sure I could have passed the test without it, but I decided to start reading it anyways to prepare for the NCLEX, and I did find it helpful.

I hope these strategies are of some help to you. Good luck, and don't stress to much on it!
