HESI A2 - FSCJ

Published

Ok, you guys....I took the HESI yesterday and got an 87.5% overall. I'm applying for the FSCJ Fall 2015 program, which requires the following sections: Math, Reading Comp, Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology.

To prepare, I checked out a couple of nursing test prep books from the school library, each of which had review sections for the test topics. I really feel those books were helpful as they present the material broadly, rather then bogging you down in minutae.

Reading Comp (92%): There's really no way to prepare for this beyond doing practice tests. This was the first section I took, so I know my nerves played into my missing a couple of questions.

Math (98%): KNOW HOW TO ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY, DIVIDE FRACTIONS!!! I feel like that comprised the majority of this section. Also, ratios/proportions and metric conversions (basically moving decimal points).

Biology (76%): Ugh. My worst section. Know meiosis, mitosis, and the phases of each. Cell structure and function. Taxonomy.

Anatomy and Physiology (84%): Organ/gland/bone locations and functions. Anatomical positions. Tissue types and functions.

And that's about it! As stressed as you probably are about it....don't be! I freaked out in ways I never due prior to exams, but it really wasn't as bad as I expected. I knew this stuff! Also, I got to choose the order I took each section, which helped, and I could stop and take breaks, as needed.

I hope this helps!
